What we do - Criminal Law

Criminal Law

Quinn Kneale prides itself on being able to deal confidently and effectively with any legal issue that may affect its clients. Accordingly we have developed a department devoted to Criminal Law, which can assist with all aspects of this particular area. We accept work both on a private funding and legal aid basis, and are able to advise quickly as to whether or not you are likely to be eligible for legal aid. Quinn Kneale also supports both the Court based and Police Station Duty Advocate schemes.

  • Defence work
From representation at the police station, through to advice on pleas and representation at Court, Quinn Kneale has extensive experience of all manner of criminal defence work. From the most minor of matters dealt with in Magistrates' Courts through to trials before a Jury in the case of serious crime. Quinn Kneale has one of the busiest and best-regarded criminal defence practices on the Island.
  • Motoring Offences
Through experience Quinn Kneale's practitioners have developed a particularly high level of expertise in dealing with motoring related offences.
  • Corporate Defence and Compliance Advice
In a world of increasingly tight regulation corporate entities are liable to prosecution in the criminal Courts for more and more matters. With experience in all manner of compliance issues and having advised upon a number of serious Health and Safety prosecutions in recent years, Quinn Kneale has the expertise to help. As well as defending prosecutions, we can also offer advice on the practices you are currently adopting to ensure you stay on the right side of this area of the law.
  • Prosecution
As well as defence work Quinn Kneale has developed some expertise in bringing Prosecutions on behalf of agencies other than the police, such as various local authorities for breaches of byelaws or local government legislation. Of particular interest to local authorities may be the experience we have garnered to prepare local authorities for ASBO applications, and the related prosecutions thereon.
  • Appeals
In addition to first instance representation, we are happy to accept instructions to review the outcome of decisions and where appropriate pursue Appeals before the relevant Court.
